Vineyard Notes
While the Rutherford appellation is celebrated for producing
world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, we have meticulously
selected and cultivated clones of Petite Verdot, Malbec and
Merlot that are ideally suited to the Estate’s terroir. The
combination of these varietals join our flagship Cabernet
Sauvignon to create an elegant and distinctive red blend.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair our Abela Vineyard Red Wine with a marinated skirt
steak, aged medium-dried cheeses, or a flourless chocolate cake.
Production
Our Abela Red Wine represents a unique opportunity to
experience a limited release Napa Valley red blend that is
crafted from Estate-grown fruit.
The winter of 2013-2014 was one of the driest in California’s
history with Napa Valley receiving only half of its average
rainfall. But, with respect to grape quality, there was good news:
heavy rains in February and early March gave the vines emerging
from dormancy a rejuvenating boost. Furthermore, the overall dry
season resulted in smaller berry size with concentrated
characteristics that added depth to the fruit’s inherent flavors.
