Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This is our first vintage from the Russian River Valley - an area known for expressive terroir-driven Pinot Noir. The wine is soft and rich, with layers of cola, ripe raspberry, bright blueberry, dried tobacco, and dark chocolate mint. It is a silky, deeply colored and full-bodied wine, aged in 100% French oak, which adds a toasty vanilla character. Enjoy this elegant Pinot Noir now or over the next three to five years
Vineyard Notes
With over 15,000 acres planted to grapevines, there is a broad range of wines from the Russian River Valley. Cool-climate-loving varietals thrive here, particularly Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. The complexity of the soil types result in wines with bright aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries. Notes of cola and baking spices are typical. The wines are rich and velvety, with ripe flavors and vibrant acidity. The summer of 2013 was cool with a lot of fog, giving the grapes prolonged hang time and resulting in beautiful deep ruby color, great structure and bright acidity. Harvest started weeks earlier than 2012, and the fruit is of exceptional quality.
Food Pairing Notes
Our Scott Family Estate Russian River Pinot Noir is versatile and food friendly. Enjoy it with salmon, tuna, mild sausages, duck, pork or lamb. Chutneys and mushrooms are delicious accompaniments. Pair this wine with Gruyere, Gouda or an aged Cheddar cheese.
